Steps to Ordering an Invitation

Step 1 - Choose the Design

We have colourful floral designs with complimentary fonts which tie in with the floral colours. We also offer sleek modern designs which could have metallic foiling added if desired. Each design has matching stationery to ensure a beautiful cohesive look from start to finish. Each matching item is individually priced making it easy for you to decide what you require before, during and after your big day!

Step 2 - Pocket or Vellum Wrap

Your invitation can be presented in a contemporary pocket, either portrait or landscape style. Or if you don't want a pocket, your invitation can be presented in a classy vellum wrap. Both pockets and vellum wraps contain the invitation & white envelope, RSVP & envelope, up to 2 inserts and are held together with a matching belly band. These invitation suites are fully assembled for you. The pockets come in luxurious pearlised card (230gsm) but can also come in matte card (240-300gsm) if you want to keep your costs down. Both look wonderful and provide a neat information package with all your additional information tucked into the pocket inside. There are lots of colours to choose from.

The vellum wrap style, is a cheaper option but looks incredibly classy. The invitation and all inserts are printed on white card which comes either textured matte (260-300gsm) or white silk card (350gsm). If you require elements of your invitation suite to be foiled then we would use the white silk card only. For the pockets I would advise using a lighter weight white card to reduce postal costs. The heavier the card the more postage will cost. Just something to consider!

Step 3 - Order a Sample

We would always advise ordering a sample of the design you like. Please note that these will not be personalised but give you the opportunity to take a closer look at the design, colours, fonts and the card stock quality. Included in your sample will be your chosen colour and style of pocket with invitation, RSVP, 2 inserts, 2 printed envelopes (a liner in the 5x7" envelope), matching belly band and a wax seal. I will also include the matching Save the Date and a couple of other On the Day stationery items. If you wish to order a Vellum Wrap Invitation sample the same items for the pocket will be included. This will give you a flavour of how wonderful everything looks together. Sample packs cost £5 each and you can order a maximum of 3 samples if you can't make up your mind! The cost of your chosen sample will be deducted from your balance if you proceed with a full order i.e. £5

Step 4 - Place Your Order

Once you are ready to place your order, select the appropriate elements from the drop-down menu to help us design your invitation. Please remember that you don't need one Invitation and Save the Date card per guest. You only need one Invitation and one Save the Date card per household. You won't need as many as you perhaps think you do! I would highly recommend ordering an extra 5-10 more invitations to allow for additional guests being added if other guests can't make it or even just to keep as a momento!

You may want to order your matching Save the Date and Evening Invitation at this stage too. Save the Dates are becoming increasingly popular and can be given out up to a year in advance giving your guests ample time to get ready for your big day! Especially helpful for guests having to travel a distance to your wedding. Evening invitations do not normally require the additional information for your guests. Included with your evening invitation would be the corresponding white envelope, RSVP & white envelope held together with the matching belly band. All fully assembled. Of course, if you wish to have the additional inserts just add these on to your order via the Optional Extra menu. If you wish to have your Evening Invitations presented in a pocket/vellum wrap please let me know via email and these will be priced accordingly.

If you wish to order your matching On the Day stationery you can order approximate quantities in at this stage and a 50% non-refundable deposit will secure the time slot required to make these closer to the time of your wedding. The deposit will cover any cost of resources already bought in advance and for other potential work lost during that time slot if you should cancel. It also enables you to stagger payments which may be helpful. Approximately six-eight weeks before your wedding day we will be in touch to discuss your requirements for your On the Day stationery as you will have more accurate numbers as to how many will be attending your wedding. We will calculate your final balance for you to pay. Orders over £200 will have free delivery.

On receiving your order, we will email you asking you to complete our questionnaire enabling us to get the information we require to begin your preliminary proofs. The quicker you complete the questionnaire the sooner we can begin designing your wedding invitation suite. Please check that spelling is correct for names, venues, etc. Any errors can be picked up in further proof rounds but if we can catch them from the start that is helpful. If you have any queries or questions please contact us via our website or email: joyweddingstationery@hotmail.com or call us on 07437467533.

Don't forget to add Optional Extras!
If you wish to go super glam with any of your invitations then why not add a matching envelope liner or a wax seal? These give your invitation suites the wow factor! You can also add guest addressing on your 5x7" outer envelope, pre-addressing the RSVP envelope and personalising each invitation with your guests names. Coloured envelopes are also available but please note that darker colours cannot be printed on. A white label would need to be printed on then added to the envelope.

Step 5 - The Design Process

To start the design process, we ask for a 50% deposit. At this stage, we are still able to amend your invoice. Following receipt of payment, we will email you your designs to review. This will take up to 3-5 working days. We will notify you if there will be a delay. Please check spelling, dates, times on each item. Make sure you are happy with the wording. There will be a further 2 rounds of proofreading to ensure everything is correct. Use checklist provided to help. Once you are happy with the designs and have signed off the digital designs we will ask for the final balance to be paid before proceeding to the printing stage. As we will be holding your personal details, please view our Privacy Policy.

Step 6 - Completing Your Order

Your order will be completed in 2-3 weeks after final sign-off depending on the style you have chosen and the quantities. Pockets are all handmade so take longer than the vellum invitations. If you have chosen to add foiling to your design please be aware that foiling also takes longer. Everything will be fully assembled for you. Please allow an extra five working days if you would like us to post your invitations to you. For urgent orders, please email us for a quote, joyweddingstationery@hotmail.com and we will do our best to fulfil your request.

Step 7 - Postage and Delivery

If local, you we can organise collection. If delivery is required a signature will be needed. Prices are determined by weight and size of the box. For mainland UK, the price will range from £10 - £25. A price will be calculated for you at the checkout. Orders over £200 have free delivery.

A Note on Foiling

You may wish to add metallic foiling to your stationery to enhance the invitation card and give it an elegant finish. The modern invitations, Shannon & Alexa, are more suited for foiling. We would use white silk card for foiling. We can add gold foiling which is extremely luxurious and classy giving a regal look to your Invitation Suite. Silver foil is extremely elegant giving a lovely mirror-like finish. We also use Rose Gold which is stunning and Teal for a more modern, edgy look. The whole suite (Invitation, RSVP and 2inserts and belly band) can be fully-foiled or partially foiled. Both look beautiful. Please be aware that foiling takes longer to do so factor the additional time in when working out when you require your wedding stationery.

Foiling Disclaimer: Please note as these items are hand foiled there may be some small natural black flecks which occur due to the hand foiling process. This is normal and you would really have to be examining them closely to spot them! Just something to consider.
